Jose Vargas was born and raised in Mexicali, Mexico. He came to United States in 1996 where he attended Omaha Bryan High School and played four years of varsity soccer for the Bears. After high school, he attended Bellevue University, earning his bachelor’s degree in sports management while playing for the Bruin men’s soccer team.
Jose began his coaching with the Bellevue Viva soccer club in 2005 and in 2007 he assisted with the Papillion-LaVista High School soccer program.
In the spring of 2008, Vargas coached at Omaha South High School where he helped guide the Packers to their first ever Nebraska State Tournament appearance. In spring 2009, Jose was the assistant soccer coach for the Bellevue West boys varsity soccer team. He currently coaches for the Toro Soccer Club and is the Academy Director. Jose holds a USSF D license and the USSF National Youth license.
