What is the Toro Academy?

·          The Toro Academy is a well structured program that follows specialized curriculums ensuring individuals are taught the basics and fundamentals before graduating to the next level. Toro Academy produces some of the best female talent in Omaha.

What are the objectives of the Academy?

·          Emphasis on individual development.

·          A specialized curriculum that promotes skill development across all levels of  players in the Academy

·          Repetition of technical skills that are essential in the development of players

·          Professional training by coaches that will follow the Academy curriculums

Are there tryouts?

·          No, any female player can enter the Academy

 

Winning vs. Development?

·          Our focus will be on the individual player not the win loss record. The coaches are not concerned with how many games a team won at U8, U9 & U10. The coach wants individual players that dribble with confidence, shoot with accuracy and defend with tenacity.

 

 What size roster should academy teams have?

·          As the U8, U9 & U10 Academy teams play 6v6 each team should look to carry no more than 10 players. Fewer players, more playing time, more development.

 

 What amount of playing time should a player have per game?

·          As it's Toro's goal to develop players, 50% playing time should be given to every Academy player.

 

Does the Toro Academy run specialized camps?

·          Yes, Toro runs seasonal camps that give Academy players extra training. These camps cover topics and skills that revolve around the Academy Curriculums.

 

Are Toro Camps run by professional Staff?

·          Yes, the Toro Academy Director (Jose Vargas) staffs all Camps with some of the most qualified coaches in the state of Nebraska.
