CUP (Under 13 - 19) Program

U13 - U19 CUP Teams

Being a CUP team is an honor as the teams and players have a chance to participate in the Nebraska State Championship.

Toro has been developing soccer players for more than 25 years.  Our experience tells us that players develop faster and more easily when they are on a team with players of equal abilities – physically and skillfully.  This allows them to challenge and be challenged by players who are of equal ability.

All players should attend tryouts each summer.  At tryouts, the selection committee is responsible for ranking the players based on their physical attributes (speed, quickness, endurance) and their skill-level (passing, trapping, shooting, etc).  Specially designed events and drills are used to measure each player’s abilities to make the selection process as accurate as possible.

After the players are ranked, the highest ranked players are assigned first based on the maximum number of players the coach wishes to include on his or her team.  The remaining players are then assigned based on their ranking.  Every team is focused on developing players to their fullest potential and giving them a chance to play at the highest level.

At Toro, the contributions of every player can not be overstated!  Every player’s development is watched very closely by all the coaches to ensure that when the time is right, they will be rewarded with an opportunity to play on a top team.  With small sided games, we often have more top players than positions on a team.  Building multiple top teams is important and necessary to be prepared when the players begin playing full-sided games.

All of our teams compete at their appropriate level, either Mid West Regional League, NSL Premier, NSL Division 1 or NSL Division 2 of the Nebraska Soccer League.  If you are not on our top team, that doesn't mean you are not a Premier player.  We are never afraid to have two teams compete in the same Division if that is best for the players.  We've even been know to place 1st and 2nd in a Division.  We strongly recommend that all teams compete in tournaments and play indoor soccer during the winter months.  Practices, training schedules and tournament participation is decided by the coach. Teams are formed as long as there are available players and qualified coaches.

USYSA State, Regional, and National Tournament

When players reach the age of U13, Nebraska and Region II allow players to compete in a State Tournament.  After completion of the tournament, the State Champion is awarded a spot in the Region II Tournament.  The Region II tournament matches all of the State Champions within the Region II in a tournament to produce a Region II Champion.

Players who participate in the top 2 or 3 teams of the Toro CUP age group (U13-U19) will participate in the Nebraska State Tournament.  If the team advances out of the state, they will have an opportunity to play in the Region II Championships.
